About Terry Fox Elementary

Terry Fox Elementary School, with 317 students enrolled, fosters a positive and engaging school culture guided by four key compass points: connection, choice, create/play, and feedback. At TFES, we prioritize building lasting connections between students and staff to promote a culture of respect and support. Students are encouraged to take ownership of their learning by choosing how they meet their goals, with opportunities to showcase their growth through creative and play-based activities. Academic success is supported through continuous feedback from both teachers and peers, helping students set and achieve their personal learning goals.

We are proud of the dedication and hard work of our staff, who go above and beyond to meet the academic and social needs of our students. From innovative teaching practices to student-led activities and behavioral instruction, the commitment of our team ensures that each student’s unique needs are supported. Established 19 years ago through the amalgamation of three local schools, Terry Fox Elementary has since become a vibrant and diverse community, with students from over 15 countries attending. One of the highlights at TFES is the “Powerful Play” enrichment block for students in grades 3-5, where they explore activities such as coding, stop-motion, drama, athletics, digital storytelling, and art. The school culminates these sessions with a Powerful Play showcase, allowing students to celebrate and share their learning with peers and family.
